Welcome to December. We made it! As its now *officially* Winter - according to the Met Office at least - there will be a noticeable uptick of Winter, Christmas & (next month) New Years related posts. So, wrap up warm and hopefully enjoy.... Oh, and there's even going to be a few Winter related book posts.....

The Met office is wrong....Winter doesn't happen until the solstice! :p
(Though, for me it happens when I begin seeing Orion in the sky.)
This year, astronomical winter begins on 21 December 2025 and ends on 20 March 2026.
By the meteorological calendar, the first day of winter is always 1 December; ending on 28 (or 29 during a Leap Year) February. Meteorological seasons consist of splitting the seasons into four periods made up of three months each. These seasons are split to coincide with our Gregorian calendar, making it easier for meteorological observing and forecasting to compare seasonal and monthly statistics.
Ahh, gotcha.
I've long thought that 21st Dec is WAY too late... [grin]
We’re expecting to get the edge of the snow storm going up the northeastern part of the US. We’re right on the line between snow and rain. I hope it snows. I hope it snows. I hope it snows. That wish should now keep it all as rain.
Oh, and I’m not Gen X, but Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
Technically I'm a Boomer... But yes, Die Hard is *definitely* a Christmas movies.
Been raining on & off here... More rain expected later in the week. Chance of snow on the run-up to Christmas is low to zero.
