Yes, I think there's elements from the first 2 or 3 of the Dark Tower books in the first film. It'll probably be a trilogy if the first movie makes enough money.
I'll probably read the first book in my next but one pile of books made into movies.... [grin]
I will wait until it shows up on Netflix or perhaps the local library. From some comments I've read, I have little hope for it. That's another series due for a reread OOTD.
CyberKitten--I have read the series, but that was a long time ago. I will wait until after I've seen the film to reread the series. Otherwise I will rate the film on how close it is to the books.

I noticed a Dark Tower movie playing at the local theater, but don't know anything about it. I assume it's based on the Stephen King novel..

i confused it with a Samuel Delaney novel with the same title(i think; maybe it was slightly different)

I liked it, although I might have hated it if I'd read the books first. It held together and the acting was pretty good.
