@ Sarah: I really... and I mean REALLY, REALLY..... don't understand how (or why!) anyone can put forward the idea that Shakespeare *didn't* write his plays & sonnets etc... Why not? The man was a certifiable genius who built of the ideas of others already in the public domain. He produced works that have stood the test of time because they represent the human condition so well. I think this kind of critical attack smacks of simple jealousy. [steps off reinforced soap box]
It baffles me too. I think the whole 'education' aspect is such a sticking point for people and it confuses me because apparently people could not be geniuses who read tons of works outside of school? And I believe someone of his intellect would not have needed much of an education beyond what he received anyway, because he was already head and shoulders above his peers. I have read a couple books about possible candidates for the "real" Shakespeare and they are not convincing in any way, shape, or form. William Shakespeare from Stratford-upon-Avon was real, and wrote these plays, the end.

Love it! And I will fight anyone who says he did not write them. HE DID!
