Made me laugh, the talk of the 'sanctity' of marriage when divorce is so common. Plus, how exactly does Gay marriage in ANY way threaten or undermine Straight marriage? When I've asked the question before I've never heard a good answer...

Because there isn't one. Is anything taken away from me when two gay people get married? Is a man-woman marriage illegal now? Do they force us into anything? No, no and no. Some people just want to be weird.
I once saw an interview with people on the street where they asked them whether being gay was a decision you made or you were born with. When the answer was that you made that decision, the next question was: so when did you decide to be straight? Nobody had an answer. Not a good one. None at all.

..and, of course, the idea of 'what next'? Being able to marry your pets or children? No, because animals & kids can't CONSENT to marriage. Whereas non-related ADULT human beings CAN legally consent. But, naturally, logic and reason hardly ever get applied to things like this. I mean, why should it bother me what other people do with their lives? It's both none of my business and doesn't affect/harm me in any way - so what's the problem?

You cannot reason with these people. They only think as far as the tip of their nose.
And, same as you, I never understand what bothers them about it. I mean, their life doesn't change one bit. They just want to be mean.
