If there was no religion, wouldn't people then just align themselves with those of their own kind and fight tribal wars? I think it's human nature to find what is different and try to destroy it on some level. Hey, is it all because of that "selfish gene" trying to make sure it reproduces and prevents other cells from doing the same? Survival of the fittest and all that.
I have to agree with VV on this one. Religion is simply one manifestation of the Human desire to group things into "Us" and "Them". Get rid of religion and we'd find something else even more asinine to fight about besides fairytales.
Great graphic I agree. Interesting lyrics dbackdad. I've never listened to much 'Megadeath'.. Maybe I should watch some of their vids on YouTube.
V V & Laura.. Yup. Most modern wars have been about power & land - and more recently things like oil. Religious wars did seem a thing of the past until people started whipping up ideas of a 'Clash of Civilisations/War on Terror/Crusade' nonsense. The thought that religious war could be back on the cards worries me.
