I Am:

An Atheist (obviously)

A Secular Humanist (which kind of follows)

A Naturalist but not a Naturist

A Democrat and a Republican (which might confuse some)

A Romantic and a Cynic (which confuses me sometimes)

A Sceptic

A Natural Stoic (which I have finally realised)

A Gamer but not a Player

A Loner but rarely lonely

A Student of life (and probably for life).

I can identify with the loner but not lonely. No one I know has been able to understand that concept somehow. I tell them to practice being alone with themselves, then explore, your mind, literature, other cultures, there's so much to occupy your thoughts, curiosity and time, how could you possibly be lonely! When I was younger, I was lonely. I spent 6 years alone with myself, and not in any relationships because I got tired of repeating the same mistakes. I learned alot in those 6 years and now am not lonely anymore.

Thanks dbackdad - But did you 'get' my comment about being a Democrat *and* a Republican? [grin]

I remember a great quote I came across some years ago: Loneliness is psychological not statistical. You can be alone in a room full of people or perfectly content with no other person for 500 miles in any direction. It's all in your head.

Indeed. I spent most of my teenage years on my own & learnt a great deal about myself during that time. I think it made me much stronger and independent than I would have been otherwise. Oddly some years ago - whilst hiking in Wales - my friend said that he greatly envied my self-posession and wished he wasn't so dependenent on being in a relationship. I laughed quite a lot at that. I had always envied *him* for all the sex he was having!

Thanks. I'd been thinking it over for a few days. I know that people (strangely) like to know a 'bit' more about me.... [grin]

Does is mean you believe in Democracy and Republicanism or are you talking about the American political partys? Which would be weird since you're a Brit. It'd be like me saying I'm a torrie and a whig. Or are those the same thing? I actually don't know the first thing about England's political partys other than the liberals there are the conservatives here. Or something.

Carry on then. Spot of tea?

Oh, I think that even the Tories here would be considered Liberals there... [bg] and *what* you would've made of the Labour Party when they were *actual* Socialists.... I shudder to think.

Here ATM most of the parties are fighting it out for the 'middle ground' which seems to me rather Right of Centre... But maybe that's just me?
