The growth of trees always makes me marvel - have you ever seen photos of trees which have grown into or absorbed fences which run beside them?

Yes, but how many of us have the stamina to persist for years? :-)

Indeed. A combination of vegetation and weather can bring down most structures in very few years. Tree roots can undermine foundations and, as we see here, split rocks. It's all just a metter of time.

Erm... Me? [grin]

I'm sure that many people have that kind of persistence often without even realising it. Without at least a modicum of persistence we can achieve very little.

Oh, and did anyone notice that this is my first *real* motivational poster actually designed to motivate? I thought I'd just throw one in to confuse people.... [laughs]

I remember a documentary called 'Life After People' about what Earth would be like if humanity were to suddenly and irreversibly disappear. In it at one point they were interviewing a botanist who was sitting at the foot of some concrete steps which had some small weeds growing through the cracks.
He said, "if we came back here after some weeks without any human intervention, you'd just be able to make out the steps through the growth of weeds. Come back in a couple of months and you wouldn't even be able to find them."
