So True….. So Sad.

“Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its labourers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the clouds of war, it is humanity hanging on a cross of iron.”

Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953.

From the days when Republicans didn't automatically have 666 tattooed on their skulls. That these words were spoken by a Republican and a military man give one hope that men of reason can some day see the light. For now, presidents from both parties continue to beat the drums of war ... and millions continue to die needlessly.

..and of course the same man who coined the phrase 'military-industrial complex' and warned us against it.....

Makes one wonder what we might accomplish with two real parties of competing ideas and intelligent, spirited debate about all the real issues that face us. Instead we get theater for the masses of ignorant TV watchers conjured up by those who would get rich off that ignorance. What a system.
