Interesting -- I've been contemplating reading it in the past couple of days because someone said I would like the Mr. Darcy character. I didn't realize its anniversary was so close! Have you read it?
I read it some time ago (pre-Blog) after seeing the Kiera Knightly movie, although I've been in love with Lizzie Bennett (played by Jennifer Ehle in the BBC version - pictured here) since the 80's.
I loved the book from beginning to end. It's a faultless work of genius and is one of the best books of any type that I've read. Obviously I loved it primarily for Elizabeth but Austen's characters in this and her other works (reviewed here under Classics) are very good indeed. If I could find someone like Miss Bennett I'd die a very happy man indeed.
