Which in itself is good for a laugh. I'd say that I was amazed that she gets so much publicity (and applause) but as I get older less and less crazy behaviour amazes me. It should be clear to everyone by now that we are a deeply irrational species.
..and not forgetting at the centre of attention and in the public eye. I guess that got hooked after their first 15 minutes of fame and want more - the same with any addictive drug.
I wonder if I created some extremist personality, whether left or right leaning, and became popular, if I could keep it up. Probably not, as I even have a difficult time role-playing "evil" characters in video games.

Coulter and her ilk appeal to people who like drama, and like feeling special, like they are part of some elite, jingoistic club.

Coulter was a troll before the internet had trolls. She practically invented being a horrible, unattractive person.
Over here she'd probably be considered a laughing stock and have about 30 people following her on Twitter.......
