That is an...interesting cover! Looks more like candy than tribbles. The novelization of DS9's "Trials and Tribblations" has an extended foreword by Gerrold that covers the history of the original episode, and the difficulties presented by its 'sequel'.

Loved both episodes. It's probably my fave DS9 episode - though that's not saying much as I never really liked that particular part of the franchise.

A few more ST:OS posters to come....

Was it the space station aspect, the darker stories...?

DS9 is my favorite because it's the only one I was able to watch as it aired: the rest were as reruns or on VHS/DVD. (Save a few episodes of Enterprise, hah!) I actually do a caption contest for DS9 at the TrekBBS forums.

Only part of it was the static nature of the show. Hardly any of the characters appealed to me - except possibly the alternate Kira and both Dax's. Sisko was OK but only just. The Doctor just annoyed me and I never liked Odo & his farcical relationship with Quark.

I didn't think it was particularly 'dark'. It certainly could have been if they followed the aftermath of the Bajoran resistance story arch a bit more. They had some of that but didn't go to the dark places that, for example, the re-imaged BSG did (not that I would expect something like that from an ST franchise).

Apart from ST:OS I'd have to say that my fave spin-off had to be Voyager. Enterprise started getting good just as the cancelled it and could have been great if they'd let it run a bit longer. It certainly had a lot of potential and new ground to cover which could have been very interesting indeed. TNG was just too.... well, nice really, and both Data & Riker annoyed the hell out of me. But hey, I'm difficult to please.... [grin]

Oh, AFAIK I watched all of the live.... Sad though that is!
