I never cease to be stunned when I encounter someone without common sense, especially for things that should be so obvious. I was recently grading exams for one of my history class. I asked a question on the exam about the American and French Revolutions. One of my students, born and raised in these United States, said our revolution was over a disagreement about taxes, the British government negotiated with us and then nothing more came of the revolution. Holy Crap girl! Are we still a colony of Great Britain? Have you never heard of the Declaration of Independence? I swear, we're in deep trouble if we don't even understand the basics about where we live.

lol - I'm sure you're not alone in that! One of the guys in my team was incredulous when I mentioned The 100 Years war and disputed that we had ever been at war with America.... [grin]

It amazes me just how little intelligence you need to get by in the world.....
