often i feel like we're riding sort of a wave into the future, with no control over the end result... which will stop when the wave reaches the beach...

That's what *they* want you to believe. We actually have control over what we do and *don't* do every second of the day (when we're awake anyway!). There are alternatives, the future isn't fixed and there is no Fate. We make History. It's what History is - the aggregation of billions of peoples individual actions. What we do matters. Everyone counts....
