i just don't get this god business... why would anyone invent a magical being, when the universe is patently based on physical laws; even if there was some such, the universe is so huge that the earth is less than an atom in comparison ... sorry, i guess i get irritated by the nonsensicality of it all...
Although official Catholic I was lucky enough to be born into a family and at a time that was indifferent to religion so I never picked up the habit. I say lucky because I've heard horror stories about people losing their faith that I'm grateful that I didn't have to go through that sort of thing to get where I am today - an atheist. Being essentially curious by nature I doubt (pun intended) if my curiosity would have left any faith I had developed alone and after a deep enough inquiry would have (probably) blown it out of the water.
Like you I simply "don't get this god business". I've looked in to it (not too deeply) and have asked believers to explain it to me but so far it still doesn't make a whole heap of sense. I guess that I'm immune....
