Mrs. M is attempting to read all of the works of Louis L'amour, an American writer of westerns; she claims he's much under-rated and an excellent landscape describer... she's gotten through about forty, i think, with maybe sixty or so to go...
Despite being a huge fan of the western movie genre I've never read a western novel. I do have one coming up though - later in the year - in a pile of classics: Purple Sage by Zane Grey.
i've read that and several others by ZG. he writes in a kind of victorian style but once you get used to it it's pretty good; i prefer the ones he wrote that take place in the desert, as he seems to have an affinity for describing those... Purple Sage is about Mormons...
I'll see if I 'get on' with Zane before investing in anything else by him or others. Not that I've got hundreds of other books to read or anything... [lol]
