not small so much as stupid...

Better detente than oblivion. The DC establishment is criminally stupid for constantly trying to expand its influence around Russia (NATO expansion) and then whining when Russia makes a show of strength to remind them it's not run by a drunken has-been anymore.

Anyway, it's about time Donnie had some adult supervision, even if a Russian nanny is unusual...

@ Mudpuddle: I'm still struggling with the idea he's President and that people still support him.

@ Stephen: I think oblivion is a lot less likely today that during the Cold War. Even if we (meaning NATO) came to blows with Russia (which is unlikely) its VERY unlikely any nukes would be involved. Are you saying that Russia's actions are justified because of some of its neighbours joining NATO?

Believe me, I struggle EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. with the fact that people still support him. No matter how terrible it gets, it is always the same:

"Fake news!"

"It's really Obama's fault!"

"Blah Blah I vote against my interests every time because I am a moron Blah Blah!"

Okay, so they don't say the last one because his base is not smart enough to realize that they are actually voting against their own interests every time they vote for the GOP, but still.

I find it very interesting that we have never had this issue with 'fake news' until this fake president came along.

@ Sarah: I think he won because Hilary was promising more of the same and a lot of people didn't want that. It's been happening across the world - the rejection of 'business as usual' because (finally) people have got sick of being taken for granted and taken for a ride. Trump offered them the hope that he was anything but more of the same - and has been proving that since day one. I don't think his supporters care about his attitude towards women or minorities. They don't care how he treats his allies and trading partners. They don't even care how he treats Russia.

What I think they like is the see the howls of anguish from the Left and the Media every time he screws up or threatens agreements or partnerships that have stood since WW2. What his supporters seem to care about it turning the clock back to a mythical 1950's when the US was undisputed top dog. What they seem to care about is getting their own back against anyone who moved a job abroad or engaged with the world as a global and multi-polar world - you know - pesky reality. The people who feel left out and left behind struck back in 2016 and felt good about the result because they were no longer ignored or side-lined. I can understand that. OK. we're all going to have to live with the consequences of that frustration and anger and, I believe, it's not going to be pleasant but (hopefully) this will be their last hurrah. We'll see in the mid-terms.
