NO! ALL THOSE BOOKS I'LL NEVER GET TO READ!! drat i read about 200 books a year; if i manage to live another 4 years, that's only 800 books... how will i ever decide which ones? so i'll just do what i usually do, rely on chance... i've never been a greatly organized person...
@ Mudpuddle: 200! VERY impressed. I'm managing around 60-70 presently (although ATM I'm lucky to exceed 60) and am anticipating pushing that to 100 post-retirement. But I do find myself looking at the piles of unread books I presently own an feeling painfully aware that there are some I already have that I will never get around to reading. A real shame, but with SO many books published I'll never read everything I want to. Even if I hone in on one small area I probably couldn't do it. So - I'll focus on British/European history and trying to get a handle on how the world works. I think that'll be enough to be getting on with.
most of the books i read are pretty fast reads: old mysteries and sci fi mixed with selected classics of one sort or another; eclectic, i guess you'd call it... i like your plan although it'd be beyond me now, i think...

it can be a bit depressing...
What? That people don't understand or that bookshops/giant TBR piles exist?

I've created a separate pile of books for quick reads - less than 250 pages.
