I did think about it when it was really bad. I do actually have an old NATO gas mask I picked up somewhere. I think it'd be pretty effective against hay-fever but I'd REALLY hare to sneeze in there! It'd be like sneezing really badly in a space suit.
I think those dust masks you wear when doing DIY would be highly effective too - and MUCH cheaper (plus you'd be much less likely to getting stopped by the police just wearing a dust mask!).

i see people wearing those occasionally; that must be the reason! tx...
I guess they'd probably work with dust masks - as long as they could catch the pollen particles (which are really small I think!).
