I miss the days when we had taxis and newsstands.

especially the newsstands... i think that's either an old Fiat or a VW bug on the other side of the street...

@ James: Don't you have them any more? Although I haven't been out & about much lately the last time I saw a newsstand like that was @ our local train station. You see them in shops too.... Taxis are everywhere. Most are 'private hire' (and most of them are Uber's too) but you do see the odd 'black cab' even here. My brother (years ago) used to drive one.

@ Mudpuddle: I thought it was a Bug too but the grills at the back are all wrong. After 5-10 minutes searching I found its actually a 1950's Citroen 4CV. Google image search for the Win!! Thanks for that - it was FUN!

i should have picked up on that; the deux cheveau (?) is one of my favorites... there's a guy in the nearby city has one that's immaculate, painted pink...

@ Mudpuddle: Oh, not the 2CV but the 4CV (apparently Renault & NOT Citreon!): From Wiki

The Renault 4CV (French: quatre chevaux, pronounced [katʁə. ʃəvo]) is a rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive, 4-door economy supermini manufactured and marketed by the French manufacturer Renault from August 1947 through July 1961. It was the first French car to sell over a million units, and was superseded by the Dauphine.

The Citroën 2CV (French: "deux chevaux" or "deux chevaux-vapeur", pronounced [dø.ʃə.vo], lit. "two steam horses", "two tax horsepower") is an air-cooled front-engine, front-wheel-drive economy car introduced at the 1948 Paris Mondial de l'Automobile and manufactured by Citroën for model years 1948–1990.

The THINGS you learn! [lol]
