I *used* to be able to drink (at least keep out of hospital) but no longer. Although I did impress the youngsters in our office by drinking neat vodka on a night out - but only because the bar didn't have the mixer I liked.
In which no one will be surprised, I was very much a whisky girl before Eleanor was born, both when I was an undergrad and then a grad student. I went from zero-to-fight pretty quickly sometimes. Apparently the temper that I have a hard time controlling sometimes on the best of days is not aided by copious amounts of alcohol, lol.
I had my first taste of vodka at age 10 (funny story) and liked it. Later I drank it (and Pernod) because it was difficult to smell it as alcohol when we used to drink @ school (just before it was legal @ 18). Tried other things over the years. Never got into whiskey but liked Gin for a while. When I got older I drank more Real Ale or just back on vodka if I didn't want to spend most of my evening out in the bathroom! [lol]
