Maybe it's an American thing or a southern working class thing. All the men I know carry pocketknives. We don't use them every day necessarily, but run into situations where we'd wish we had a knife if we didn't. (Needing to open a box at work, for instance.)

It’s an American thing. I’ve had a Swiss Army knife with me most of my life.
