Every community of Christians across the globe depicts Jesus as resembling themselves....though I've literally never seen a blonde Jesus, unless you're counting very dirty-blonde like Obi-Wan. The only problem comes when people literally believe he looked like them, whether they're those bizaare "black hebrews" or their polar opposites, the Christian Identity people who believe the Jews became Anglo-Saxons.
FWIW, Fat Buddha is a Chinese thing, if I recall correctly.
I've seen some (admittedly OLD) depictions of Jesus that look VERY Nordic and totally out of place. Jesus would have likely looked very 'Palestinian' - obviously - I should think!
I've seen LOTS of different depictions of the Buddha (some of which I own) both thin & fat.
