YES!! Like...why is this hard to understand?

Indeed. Imagine the world *without* childhood vaccination. Polio anyone? SMALLMPOX!!!! Would we want to go back to those days if we could? How CRAZY would that be? So why are people dead set against ADULT vaccination? I wonder how many people get their pets vaccinated but don't vaccinate their kids or themselves. Why do people choose to play Russian Roulette with their health when they can do something about it? It confounds me...

Exactly!

Hey, Mike. How's things in your weird country? [lol]

I never understood the whole anti-vax thing. We've had them for quite a while now and they're pretty effective at stopping disease or reducing its effects. They've saved countless lives over the last century. Or do people really want to roll the dice (with their kids!) every time someone coughs or every time you touch a surface that someone ill just touched minutes ago? These people really need to read more social history BEFORE vaccination was widespread. It's horrific.

Totally agree. We've had our fourth vaccination, e.g. booster shot and will get our flu shot next month. I totally don't get people who refuse to get it but if they need it for a holiday, they do it. Well, I also do it for those who cannot get one, there are people like that and they wouldn't mind if we all got it so they are in lesser danger.

Although I've never gone anywhere that I needed shots for (I have a much more adventurous friend who did that sort of thing) I can't imagine NOT doing so. It's a bit like wanting to visit pre-vaccine times but still refusing shots... Weird.

I had flu (twice!) some years back & vowed never to go through *that* again if I could avoid it [shudder]. Flu shot every year now without fail!

It is very strange to me that people accept getting a flu shot every year but think the Covid vaccine is something else altogether. Like...Covid is not going anywhere, it is here to stay. So vaccinate, just like for the flu. Not hard. New York has declared a state of emergency over fucking POLIO...a disease we already gt rid of here once. Fucking hell. I can't with these morons.

I think the thing that 'gets' me most is when people put their own children at risk of catching life threatening diseases and then *complain* to the authorities to DO SOMETHING when their child gets ill. Some horrible diseases are easily avoided if you have your child vaccinated with a shot that's known to be effective and safe - a LOT safer than taking a chance on a passing bug looking for a new home!

I also had flu in my younger years and never wish it back, I don't know how I would cope now that I'm not that healthy again (neither is hubby).

I doubt that the people who get flu shots are against the Covid vaccine. There might be some because they say it's new and "not tested" but the majority of people are those who never get vaccinated. For anything.

And in their mind, they put their kids at risk with the vaccination because they've heard of one case where the child had problems or even died (not that they would know the case) and think that is worse than the million kids who were saved. Yes, it's hard when that's your kid but the chances that's going to happen are one in a million.

It was less than 10 years ago when I had flu. I remember running a very high temperature day after day after day. I remember sitting up in bed at 3am thinking 'this is how people die'. So.... Never again (if I have anything to do with it!). The 'not tested' or 'rushed' ideas where priceless. Just how long did these people want to wait until it was "proven" safe? How many people had to die unvaccinated before people would be allowed to take a vaccine that has turned out to be one of the safest ever produced?

Sure, nothing is 100% safe.... LIFE isn't 100% safe... But taking the vaccine is a whole lot safer than NOT taking the vaccine.... [shakes head]

Totally agree. And yes, I remember thinking the same thing, I thought I WAS going to die. And yes, never again.
