I'm just far too annoying to be taken. Although it might be nice to chat to our 'visitors' to see what's going on in the vast universe..... I guess that they're FAR too sensible though and are staying FAR away from us!! [grin]

Hahaha, I won't get abducted, either. My family refuses to watch a sci-fi film with me. And that's a good thing. LOL

Throw it back, it's another one of those curious ones. Try finding someone looking at down at their phone.

@ Marianne: [lol] I *try* to keep comments to a minimum but the odd [sigh] or [tut] does break out if its particularly bad - I gave up laughing at or pointing out the beam effects in space that simply wouldn't exist LONG ago. My friends usually wait until the end of the movie to ask me what I think... [grin]

@ Stephen: Funnily enough I have a cartoon on just that *very* subject! [lol]

I don't enjoy them anyway, so I'm fine with people watching them without me. It's always the same plot anyway and it has to be incredibly loud to be good, at least that's my impression. Not for me.

I remember the days when SF films didn't need regular explosive battles (every 30 minutes or so) and running about shouting things incoherently - when Sci-Fi was more a thinking persons medium, rather than something designed for recently pubescent boys...... [grin]

I think the term used is: Marvel. Or its cheap knock-off: DC

Sounds alright to me. But I notice it with a lot of films nowadays, especially sci-fi and action or even fantasy, they rather seek attention by noise than a good plot.

I think its because of the way they think about their main target audience - boys between 14-25... Essentially those with short attention spans. So, no great plot complexity or character development. AKA boring and loud. These days if I hear that a movie has been labelled as 'boring' or 'slow' I give it an extra look because that probably means its interesting.... [grin]

I think they noticed in the meantime that not only boys from 14 to 25 like that kind of stuff, most people over that age seems to develop into the that type.
And you are right, most "boring" or "slow" movies are so much better than that. At least they give you something to think about. Which is exactly what many don't want.
