Indeed. Although when I left my office in 2020 we still had a fax machine.... Hardly ever used and a lot of the younger staff were afraid of it, but still there.... [grin]
Plus anything 'official' for the file had to be signed in hard copy for legal reasons....
In the United States, faxes are heavily used for healthcare & government things because they're regarded as "secure". I do 20+ faxes a day for people -- it's one of our main sources of revenue!

Some of the companies we dealt with wanted a fax in confirmation for a job order - rather than an e-mail. That was the only reason we kept it going.
