I noticed a few days ago here that they'll selling Halloween, Guy Fawkes/Bonfire Night and Christmas stuff all at the same time! No Christmas music yet though... [grin]

A coworker of mine (who doesn't observe any holidays or birthdays) recently voiced her surprise that Walmart was "still" selling Christmas decorations in September. One of the employees told her they'd just put this out for THIS Christmas.

I *think* there is/was a shop in 'town' that sold Christmas stuff all year round - except (ironically) actually AT Christmas. I really don't know how they stayed in business...

Well, they don't sell much Halloween stuff in Germany. Or Thanksgiving. So, after the BBQ items disappear, there is room for Christmas.
And there are shops in Germany that sell Christmas decorations all year long but they are mainly in tourist areas that are known for their Christmas stuff.

Interesting that Halloween isn't a big thing with you guys. I think it was dying out here in the 80's and 90's but then was revitalised when we (or rather the companies that make the tat people buy) took a more American view on it. I bet that not even 10% of people know what it's actually supposed to be celebrating.

We do have All Saints and All Souls with events in church. And the 31st of October is Reformation Day for the Protestants. Some of our states have a public holiday on the 31st (the more Protestant ones, mostly in the North), the others on the 1st of November, more Catholics, mostly in the South.

Interesting. Thanks for that.

You're welcome. I always enjoy hearing about customs in other countries and therefore am more than willing to pass on the ones from mine (or the countries I've lived in).

Obviously. Though, wasn't that always Obama? ;)
Anyway, it's perfect, we all want a White Christmas. LOL
