Same here, Kitten. We also have a station in Germany where you pay tv tax and I happily pay it because it is so much more independent than any of the commercial ones.
The thing that really sells the BBC to me is that BOTH political parties consider it as being biased against them. That's a very good and healthy sign as far as I'm concerned!

You can usually tell who watches what.

Lol, right? No bias there at all.
Bias is like a trap. OK if you *know* its there. Hidden bias (or lying as I like to call it) is BAD and needs a bit of training/scepticism to spot.
And too few people want to do the work to develop that skepticism.
