There are still mosquitos in England? I realize that probably sounds naive, but I thought swamps and such were purposely drained to destroy mosquitos and thus malaria, etc.
Oh, we still get some in the summer. We're expecting to get more and for longer as Global Warming picks up. They only need still water. Almost anything will do - and if there's one thing England has a LOT of... it's WATER! [lol]

Yes, one more reason to love the colder seasons.
Cold weather does have the advantage of killing off bugs that then can't erupt in HUGE numbers the following Spring/Summer!
But it has to be very cold for that. This winter, I have little hope.
I was thinking that myself. We've only had a few nights at below or around zero. The little buggers can probably survive that for short periods...
I'm afraid of that, as well.
Hate 'em so much. Minnesota is the "Land of 10,000 Lakes" (really, there's more like 11,900-ish) and mosquitos are practically our state bird. Yuck.
Sounds like your State plant should be the Venus fly-trap!
