I think she's simply using an innovative method of advertising her services in land clearance or extreme gardening - hence the pad near her to note down potential clients.... Either that or she's just had her favourite chainsaw serviced and didn't want to leave it in the car whilst she popped into a bar for a drink on her way home....
It's definitely a technique worth trying - although you *might* end up attracting chainsaw enthusiasts..... Probably best just putting a hardback non-fiction book on the bar. You'd probably empty the place and be asked to leave.

Sure! People have been known to break into cars for less.
I would absolutely do this to keep men away from me at a bar.
