An excellent piece of sarcasm I thought....!

Of course, the other side made "Some midnight votes came in for the 49ers in Arizona -- Niners win!" memes.. ;-)

The 49s actually did win, when I was watching. Every year I attend an anti-football super bowl party in which all of the attendees are people who are not into football -- we just gather for food, company, etc. The CBS app wasn't working, so we 'found the game' on YouTube. We got to halftime before realizing we were watching a game from three years ago - same teams, different winner. XD I understand the 'real' game got much better toward the end.

LOL

When we were students we used to stay up late (because of the time difference) and watch the Superbowl. I was into the Miami Dolphins back then and even had a poster of Dan Marino on my wall.... [grin] *Much* later I saw the Dolphins play @ Wembley stadium in London and thought they were *terrible*. The team I liked watching (not the same game) was the Detroit Lions. I thought they were a feisty underdog and bought their 'baseball' cap which I still wear (and, to be honest I bought the Dolphins cap too because I liked the design). I haven't watched a whole game for *ages*.

College football reigns supreme in my neck of the woods -- it probably helps that there's no regional team to root for, unlike baseball where the Atlanta Braves are The Team of the southeast.

The Dolphins were really good in the 1990s, I think? May be confusing them with the Hurricanes...I know Bama played them for the national championship. It was THE GAME, and even made my then-anti TV parents truck us up to my grandparents so they could watch. What brought the Dolphins to Britain? Some kind of exhibition game?

I started wearing a Red Sox cap in the 2000s -- partially because of their 2004 season and partially because I was rooting for Boston Rob on Survivor at the time. didn't actively follow them -- it was more of how I pay attention to Alabama and Auburn during football season, a background monitoring. Then the last few years I've started watching highlights on youtube. I think it's a "Hey, I need something to watch that isn't depressing/infuriating news" reaction.

Not sure why they started playing American football @ Wembley. I think it was growing in popularity over here & someone thought it'd be a good idea/money maker. One of the guys at work - who I've known for *years* is a BIG fan so managed to source some tickets, indeed enough to run two coaches full of people including me and a couple of friends. We all enjoyed it so went back the next year too which was the Dolphins.

I think it was a HUGELY popular event. The first one was sold out quickly and the second one was extended to more games. I *think* we went to the 3rd & 4th ones.

I've been wearing baseball caps for decades and will wear almost anything. Our sub-contractors (or wannabe sub-contractors) often gave them away at events, so I was never short of headwear!

SUCH A GOOD GAME! I hate when Super Bowls are blow-outs. It was such a slugfest and sorry not sorry, the 49ers forgot the rules. Such a fun night, we watched football and ate yummy food and it's one of my favorites nights of the year.
