1) If what passes for Western civilisation collapses and my house somehow survives the apocalypse my books will form the basis for the inevitable rebuilding...
2) My books can be distributed between by nieces and nephews (or grand-nieces and nephews by then) after I pop-off.
Must be nice to have niblings who care about reading! Mine did when they were little, but by the time they were teenagers they were total screen drones. :(
They all seem to be *very* smart cookies so... I'm *assuming* they'd be pleased with my book collection!
Of course it's entirely possible that my books might be given away to charity or just thrown in a skip. I guess I'll just have to hope that most/some/all of them end up somewhere good and not just as landfill.
Think they'll be impressed/awed or mystified by all your reading interests?
BTW, I've lately encountered the term 'shower' by British authors several times -- "useless shower", "pitiful shower", and Bard tells me it's a bit of slang that's used to refer to a group of people of questionable quality. Do you hear it used often? FWIW, one book was written in the 2010s and set during 2nd century Roman Britain; another was written in 2010s but set in 1940s Britain.
Not sure what they'd think of my books - some of them at least already think I'm weird so.....
'Shower' is usually aimed at a group of people, although at times it can refer to an individual. Any group will do - just plonk a word like 'useless', or 'pitiful' in front. Always used as a pejorative. You can also spice it up a bit with a few creative swear words.
My will designates certain portions of my library to friends I know would enjoy it -- science books to the biology Phd, urbanism books to the urban architecturists, etc. I'm sure most of them will just appear in goodwill!

I'm happy wherever my books go - except into a skip. As long as other people get the opportunity to read them!
