It's the Augusta National Golf course incident on October 23 1983 [which I had no idea about until you prompted me. I thought this was about the Reagan shooting/assassination attempt, but I'm a few years out]
From the NYT: “An armed man crashed through the gates of the Augusta National Golf Course today, took hostages and demanded to speak to President Reagan, who was playing the 16th hole at the time.”
These are Secret Service agents responding to the event - complete with Uzi submachine guns. Not sure if they're rushing *to* the problem or rushing Reagan *away* from it.
Heck yeah we do! Nothing more American than grilling and lighting things on fire, lol.
It's actually one of my favorite holidays, despite spending tons of money on things we are literally going to set on fire and destroy. But seeing the amazement and joy in the kiddos' eyes when the fireworks go off is the best part.

Who are they and who are they guarding?

Looks like a standard 4th of July in America at this point.
July 4th - Where you celebrate the birth of your country by blowing up small parts of it?
I'm looking forward to it this year. I'm pulling an all-nighter to watch the Tories get CRUSHED in the Election... It's going to be SO much fun.

Can't beat a decent fireworks display. I've seen some *very* good and *very* expensive ones...
