Better than "Zeus is annoyed because some human woman or forest-spirit is resisting his advances..."

Or, once they're old enough to understand, simply tell them the truth... [grin]

Sometimes I imagine it's a bit like Calvin's dad telling him that wind is caused by trees sneezing...no, it's not the truth, but the facts are complicated:

Hilarious! Eleanor was never scared of lightning or thunder, she would stand at the patio door and yell at it for being too loud while she was trying to play or watch a movie, lol

@ Stephen: Calvin & Hobbes *rocks* SO much!

@ Sarah: Oh, I always used to LOVE watching full on thunderstorms as a kid. My auntie was totally freaked out about them and used to warn us to turn off all of our electrical stuff, stay away from the power outlets and turn any mirrors to the wall. We just used to sit on our front step and count the seconds between bang & flash to figure out where the storm was. FUN.

My grandpa used to take my mom and her siblings for ice cream during tornados (obviously in the opposite direction) so I think that's why I have an unhealthy lack of fear of bad weather. A few weeks ago we were getting hammered with severe thunderstorms and tornados, so I went outside to watch the clouds rotating over our apartment building. It was so pretty and lucky no tornados dropped!
