"No people will tamely surrender their liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and virtue is preserved. On the contrary, when people are universally ignorant, and debauched in their manners, they will sink under their own weight without the aid of foreign invaders."
Samuel Adams, 1775.

I guess he didn't see it coming.
Did any of them....? Actually, I'm largely ignorant of the Founding Fathers.... Something I'll be looking into @ some point...
Nobody could have foreseen this, not at that time.
My grandfather warned people in his village not to vote for AH because he only would want war. Nobody listened, well, most didn't. Today, you have the whole information of the world on your fingertips, and still nobody listens.
Lack of information, or access to information, is most definitely NOT the problem!
Don't worry about the Founding Fathers, most were just a bunch of rich white dudes who didn't want to pay their taxes. Some, however, are worth knowing. Especially Adams.
