We made it to December!!! That means we switch over to a Winter theme here @ SaLT for the next TWO months, plus an additional Christmas theme this month (obviously) and a theme on New Year/new start next month (again obviously). Enjoy....!
We had a brief flurry of tony flakes that melted before they hit the ground and it was wonderful because I love snow. It was sad beause nothing stayed. I also had a nightmare last night that we had no snow days this school year.
It surprised me a few weeks ago and snowed here. It even hung around for a day or two. I think we had about an inch, maybe an inch and a half.... Nothing expected here for the next few weeks...
Yes, I've experienced that. It snowed moderately here some years ago and the buses stopped running. So I walked into work... It's only about 3 miles so it didn't take too long. People were AMAZED that I did that. After about 3 hours in office, and with hardly anyone else there, I got a life home with someone who had managed to drive in....
I'm from the North but if I see what people in the Southern part of this country often go through ... And snow is no excuse not to come to work. Or school.
In Minnesota the wind chill has to be at least 30 below 0 to get a snow day, or if there is literally so much snow that the plows can't keep up.
Nebraska is a few hours south, so here it is a 20 below wind chill or more. But Omaha is the biggest city, so they are marginally better at plowing the roads. It's just that so many of the kids in my school district walk to school, that the cold is more dangerous than the snow.
I remember one year going to college in a blizzard. Got about 25% there and **really** wanted to lie down in the snow and wait a while. Fortunately what was left of my brain at that point said HUGE RED Flag! and told me to get my ass HOME pronto - which I did... Only later to find that the college was closed anyway!!!

You think? Good luck. ;)
Oh, it hardly ever snows here. Not like I remember decades ago in the North... That was REAL snow... [lol]
Oh, I know. When we lived in the UK, we had a teeny tiny bit of snow one year and everyone went crazy. LOL

Growing up in the 60's & 70's it was *very* rare for schools to be closed due to the weather. They do seem to close a LOT more these days...
