Unfortunately that's too true, but just how do we get them to understand? You can find thousands of US blogs where the mere mention of human induced global warming provides pages of self denying drivel in ones comments. (try commenting on www.gutrumbles.com for instance)The US govt is too scared of vested interests and so is not going to do anything.

We're all going to die!

I guess that we can only wait for a change of Administration for something positive to happen. Or maybe a few more Katrina type events might wake the Vested Interests up a bit.

The good news is that individual states & industries are doing positive things despite their national government ignoring the issue.

Things are going to get worse before they get better (don't they always) but I don't think that we should give up hope just yet!

Trying to get through to those in denial is like hitting my head against a brick wall. You're right that individuals, some states and industries are being intelligent and doing what they can. I'm not sure though if a change in the Administration will do the trick to turn things around nationally. The Reps and Dems are so controlled by big corporations and their campaign contributions that nothing gets accomplished that will in any way make the polluters clean up or cost them money. We're in desperate need over here for some people with character and backbone who can make changes in government. Well, we actually have people like that, but they don't have the money to run for office, or the political machinery behind them to give them enough power in Congress to effect change. *sigh*
