Ain't that the truth! I wish "we the people" had more direct control over the spending. I know we send billions and billions of dollars in foreign aid to other countries and I realize the political necessity of doing so, but we shouldn't be giving away money we have to borrow to get and pay interest on in the first place.
I think we spend 40% on Medicare, Medicaid, and welfare. I could be wrong, but some pie chart I looked at recently show a huge chunk of our money going toward that. I think we need to revamp the whole system and think outside the box for new solutions to old problems.

I see that your Defence spending has increased by 81% since 2001 and is now 5 times that of the next big spender - China.
I wonder if that's the crux of your countries economic problems? [muses]

we spend quite a bit of our GDP on Health too - it seems to be the way of things in developed countries.

We certainty can't go on for much longer with a "business as usual" attitude that's for sure!
