Reminds me of a line from "A Face in the Crowd". Are you familiar with it? The subject of the film is a vagrant musician turned media mogul, cultivating success with folksy charm and using it to sell commercial goods and politicians. At one point a character critical of him says, "He has the courage of his ignorance".
