I'm not going near any book that makes Atticus Finch a Klucker!

[lol] It is quite a turn up really.. I wonder what she was thinking?

Considering her age she can't be worried about wanting to retire comfortably...!

Yet another classic book, and film I have not consumed. I wonder if I'll cease my busy-ness when I eventually retire, and read all the books I want to read now. I'll probably need to move to Seattle. Rainy days are the best for reading. I did start reading a book you reviewed, _Singled Out,_ about the single British women after WWI. I started reading it while I as on vacation in Maine. I would have loved to have read a series of mini-biographies of these women, there was too much chatter from the author on other stuff.

I've seen the film but haven't read the book (as with most of the world's great literature!).

I think that you need to be busy and that reading doesn't count as busy-ness. You'll always think of something more important that needs doing - now. I really can't see you slowing down much on retirement. Maybe you can *schedule* in an hour of reading per day. That might help?

[lol] We're getting plenty of that ATM. It's nice today - sunny, dry - but yesterday we had a months rain in a single day. Thunderstorms expected tomorrow with rain predicted until Wednesday at least. Plenty of reading opportunities plus I'm off work till Tuesday....

Yes, she did wander about a bit and repeat herself quite often. When she concentrated on particular women she was really good (some of them where amazing) but I know what you mean about 'chatter'. I'm going to try to see if I can get some of the autobiogs mentioned in the book. I think they'd be very interesting.
