According to "Iran and the United States", Ahmadinwhatsit won because the opposition was split -- rather like how Woodrow Wilson won his first go-round. I don't know Venezuelan history, but Chavez was a transparent dictator. It's hard to believe he was elected in honest elections, ever -- but maybe.
As for Bush...well. He was only duly elected once, and his opponent had all the charisma of a dead fish. Pity he and Romney didn't run against one another...the dead fish vs the potato!

(Of course, considering what charismatic politicians tend to do, give me the potatoes and dead fish, I think....)
But what could *possibly* go wrong with a charismatic leader....? [ponders]
Oh, that 'take over the world thing' they tend to do?
Yep. Between that and the personality cults, they're more trouble than they're worth!
