The Daleks are right up there as one of my fave baddies of all time. Oddly, for someone who thinks of themselves as very forward looking, all of my fave baddies are machines of one sort or another:
Daleks The Borg Terminators Cybermen Replicators
No doubt it says *something* about me... apart from the fact that I watch a lot of TV & Movie SF!
I was fascinated with the construction of the Daleks when I first started watching Dr. Who, starring Tom Baker. The special effects were so cheesy, it was like it came from the imagination of a twelve year old boy with cardboard boxes, paint, wires, and lights. Despite that, I fell in love with the show, cheap effects and all. 😀
I've said before that, as far as I'm concerned Tom Baker *was* Dr Who.
I've seen pix of them building Daleks out of wood and even had a kit to build one. As a child I even made Daleks out of egg box bits and matchsticks... I loved those little guys gliding along on their ramps exterminating people as they went.....
