Just assume everything that happens in DC is awful and you won't be disappointed. It's been my coping mechanism for nearly ten years now. I think I gave up hope in summer '07..
(I can remember the moment -- driving down the highway on the way home from work, listening to some infighting between Obama and Clinton.)
@ Stephen: I must admit I've never know anyone *quite* that cynical about Government.... and both myself and my friends are pretty cynical about the whole thing!
