I cannot tell you how many Americans I know who think that lots of guns all over the place make people safer. It is not just NRA funded politicians. People really believe this.
@ Brian: I always thought it was strange that to protect yourself from people with guns you increased the number of guns in society which, naturally, meant that more people needed more guns to feel safe - which of course they never do.
@ Fred: Facts are important. Even when they're ignored. You probably can't 'convert' a true believer with facts (which they probably won't believe) but you have to start somewhere.
@ Mudpuddle: From reports on the BBC it does seem that you guys have basically given up trying to restrict gun ownership in *any* way. It seems if the subject isn't even up for debate any more. Do you have to wait for Trump to leave before it can be talked about again?
