My brother does that a LOT. I'm not as bad but do channel-hop at the slightest excuse - especially when the adverts are on. I hate those things with a passion!
My TV broke a few years back on I haven't replaced it yet. I keep *meaning* to but never get around to it. I don't miss it at all. I watch some BBC progs on iPlayer & watch movies on DVD. If there's a series I want to watch either one of my friends will download it for me or I'll wait until the DVD boxset comes out.

we quit tv twenty? years ago and haven't regretted it a bit... we get movies on line several times a week and that suffices...
