this potus term is the nadir of the last 70 years, without question... never thought i'd live to see the day... when the president puts children in jail...
It is one our darker periods in history. We have a lot of cleaning up to do, in our population, our education system, our political structure and close loopholes that they’re walking through, and clarify or set firm rules so there is no ambiguity on what people in the three branches can do, and how they must behave to do oversight to protect our democratic republic.
@ Mudpuddle: Of course he keeps getting compared to Nixon. From what I've read so far this one seems to be worse (or more effective).
@ V V: I've been thinking that, even if you get rid of him in 2020 (I do hope so!) it's going to take a while to fix all the damage. I think one of the problems is that some of your important areas of your system are conventions or kind of 'gentlemen's agreements'. Trump is shitting all over them and people are scrabbling to cope with something maybe you haven't really seen before. The way you 'do things' will certainly need to be tightened in the future to stop this thing happening again. A few good things to come out of this though - not matter how it ends - is that people are more engaged in politics than they have been for a long time and far fewer are taking their democracy for granted any more!
