gardner f. fox is an alias for some well known writer, i think... Erle stanley gardner maybe?
Difficult to tell. Google keeps pointing @ the author who wrote extensively for DC comics and produced mostly SF and Fantasy novels/stories. He did do a few non-SF/Fantasy things but this particular work isn't mention.
