Shame he's dead..... Then again, wasn't their a band called 'The Dead Presidents'??? At least you'd get science based decision making which would be a nice change of pace (mostly).
@ Stephen: Well, they're definitely very different beasts... [grin]. What always gets me though is the denigration of expertise and intellectual pursuits in some places (and not just in the US as hinted at in the quote). Not only are expert opinions and comments from random people in the street or on social media seen as equally valid (they're not) but sometimes expert opinion is seen as having lower value just because the person is an expert on that topic. That attitude in particular confounds me.

Science and politics are incompatible. One is about the truth, the other is about what sells with the establishment and the masses. :p
