Bargaining with dictators rarely ends well.

Indeed. I think the whole world learnt that (at least for a while) at the end of 1939. I think Sanna Marin was spot on when she said that the way to end the conflict is for Russia to leave. What other option makes sense?

Very good point. I might be able to think of some parts of my country (wink) but the trouble also is, where does it end. If they give up Crimea and Donbas, he'll want the next parts.

LOL - I'm sure that a lot of people would be more than happy giving up 'parts' of their country... I can think of a few places here that I'd like to see 'gone' [grin]. But it's never going to end well... Or *end*. Putin wants the whole of Ukraine one way or another. But over the last 10 months or so he's learning that wanting isn't the same as having. Hopefully this year he'll learn to stop wanting so much and go home with his tail between his legs, a bloody nose and a pronounced limp (at least)!

People like that never learn, look at Trump.
