The way things are going, I count myself among them. No techno-dystopia for me, thanks. I can count myself safe ignoring the admonishment of some child of privilege, who by his class stands to benefit from any changes by imposing them on poor working sods, or at the very least sheltering himself from them.

Need to re-watch Hoffa so I can have the pleasure of seeing Hoffa dismissing RFK. ("You don't impress me, and your OFFICE don't impress me, and your FAMILY don't impress me! Buncha rum-runners. Guy needs his brother elected president to get a job? Yer the brudder they make jokes about.")

45+ years of reading Science-Fiction has prepared me for any future that happens. I don't think it'll be anywhere near as bad (or as good) as some people think - or would like us to think. People generally won't stand dystopia for too long. A few generations and there's either a collapse or revolution...

The past is always mythologised. Sure, it was great for some people but crappy for others (usually most others). I think that people want selected *parts* of the past (or actually the past as either they remember it as children or have been told about by others) but with the advantages of the present and (hopeful) future.

Say it extra loud for the idiot MAGA crowd who want to go back in time to when things were only great for mediocre white men. They still won't get it, because they're not very bright, but shouting is fun.

They don't listen, Sarah, they only shout.

Unfortunately that is true.
