I've actually seen pictures like that on FB. It was time to delete the posters from my list.

They do LOVE their guns over there, I mean... Look how the woman is *cradling* that AR-15!

Look, somebody lands eight reindeer right on your front lawn during deer season, you can't NOT sit up and wait for them with the rifle at the ready. That's meat in the freezer.

LOL. You do have to wonder how future Amazon delivery drones will cope during duck/drone hunting season...! Apart from the issue with flying regulations you KNOW people are just going to shoot those things down on a regular basis...

I know a few people where the kids found a gun under the Christmas tree. By so-called Christians.

Nothing quite celebrates the birth of the Prince of Peace like the gift of a firearm... apparently....

Maybe they should remind us not to use them. Though I can think of other ways to teach peace.

Ugh. It's so gross. And when people refer to the second amendment, I remind them that automatic and semi-automatic weapons were not a thing when that was written. I think anyone who uses 2A as their argument should only be allowed to own guns that our founding fathers had access to.

Question: If the Founders were SO good - perfect indeed - then WHY so many Amendments? Surely, surely, their document was PERFECT from the get-go, right?

Considering how many PMs the UK has had in the last five years, I don't think any Brit can call us on stability. :p

It's only had 27 amendments in 200+ years, which is a pretty good record from my point of view. The first 10 were adopted as a condition of some states to restrict the government, since they rightfully feared over-reach. They weren't changes to the constitution, merely clarifications -- so we're really down to 17. The 13 - 15th were adopted as a set dealing with the end of slavery and the attempt to integrate freedmen into the nation -- although the 14th has been abused for all kinds of chicanery, including 'corporate citizenship'. Two amendments cancel each other out (the 18th and 22nd). There are a few substantial alterations to the constitution, though, like the 16th which subverted the whole idea of America by having DC directly fund itself through taxes on individuals rather than getting its income from the States (thus effectively destroying the original Republic, which was already fairly ragged from Lincoln, McKinely, Teddy, etc). The rest are fairly minor.

And Sarah, saying the 2nd doesn't apply to automatics is like saying the first doesn't apply to the internet. To quote Javier Mieli, "Viva La Libertad Carajo!!!!" ;)

(It's generally translated as "LONG LIVE FREEDOM DAMMIT!")

18th and 20th, rather. 22nd made FDR/Putin/Xi-type long running rule impossible.

CK - the founders were a bunch of (mostly) slave-owning mediocre white men who didn't want to pay their taxes. Not terribly impressive at all.

Stephen - no civilian needs automatic weapons at all for anything.
